From June to August, Jacobs University offers a series of Summer Camps in the areas of life sciences, mathematics and diversity management for pre-college students. Participants get the opportunity to explore different fields of studies and to experience living in the colleges on campus. The academic program is rounded off by a number of leisure activities including trips to Bremen and the region as well as further afield to Berlin or Groningen.

This summer camp aims at introducing pre-college students to problem-solving in modern life sciences with hands-on training and a good portion of edutainment. This includes an introduction to the basics of biological research and comprehensive safety training as well as student-led activities and ‘Hollywood-meets-Science’ evenings. Participants will gain experimental skills and will get involved in cutting edge research.
Each day, summer camps students will enter a new laboratory in the research fields of biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, microbiology, or biophysics. Lab work will take place in the mornings followed by afternoon activities such as visits to research institutes based in the Bremen region, a video film contest, and sports activities.

from June 25, 2015 to July 5
In the Summer Camp Mathematics pre-college students with interest in math are introduced to various topics in modern mathematics ranging from foundations of geometry to compressed sensing and applications of probability in the real world.
Side activities of the camp include a visit to science centers in Bremen and several math problem-solving sessions. The participants are expected to have a solid background in high school mathematics.

July 26 to August 9
This Summer Camp acquaints students with academic studies in the fields of diversity, intercultural differences and the effects of globalization on individual and group behaviors. Highlights include intercultural competence training, publishing classes, field trips, city tours and even a sailing course.
This two-week camp is designed for students aged 16 and older. Thanks to its truly international student base, the interdisciplinary nature of its academic programs and its commitment to lifelong learning, Jacobs University, is the perfect environment to experience diversity in its many forms.
