MoLife Research Seminar by:

Prof. Dr. Sebastian Springer, Jacobs University Bremen

Title of the Talk:

Novel techniques enable detailed study of cell surface protein quality control

How do mammalian cells recognize that a cell surface receptor is at the end of its lifespan, and target it for degradation? We would like to understand this process for some proteins of the immune system. In the past two years, we have therefore developed novel techniques to study regulated endocytosis and the connection between protein conformation and trafficking. I will introduce a novel tag-probe system and a microscopic protein-protein interaction assay with antibody-modified surfaces, and I will and discuss what we have learnt from them about MHC class I molecules
