Apply now for the International Foundation Year
All students who obtain a high school diploma or local equivalent prior to the start of the program and who possess English language skills equivalent to the B1 level of the European Framework may apply for the International Foundation Year. Please note that we cannot accept O-Levels or AS-Levels as an entrance qualification. The application process is selective and seeks out motivated students who show both the intellectual and social potential to thrive in a diverse international study environment.
What do you need to apply?
To complete your online application, you will need the following:
|Copy of your original high school certificate and transcripts of the last 2-3 years|
|Official recommendation letter from a high school counsellor or a teacher on letterheaded paper|
|A personal motivation statement|
|Proof of English language proficiency; minimum score of 65 on the TOEFL iBT / 5.5 on the IELTS (UK) / 46 on the Pearson PTE Academic or the Cambridge Certificate (FCE) / 90 on the Duolingo English test|

7 Stages after you submitted your application
STAGE 1: CHECK DOCUMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
We will carefully review your application, check if you submitted all necessary documents and if you are eligible to apply to the program.
STAGE 2: ISSUE ADMISSION DECISION
Assuming your application is successful, we will send you a conditional offer of a place in the program.
STAGE 3: ENROLL IN THE PROGRAM
To accept a place in the program, you will need to submit the enrollment confirmation form and pay a deposit. The Offer Letter will contain the deposit amount.
STAGE 4: APPLY FOR VISA
You will then need to apply for your visa if applicable. With your admission letter, you are provided with a visa letter “Zulassungsbescheid” which you will need to complete your visa application. Students who require a visa for Germany should apply as soon as possible as the visa process can take up to 90 days. Our visa specialists are also here to guide you and support you during the process.
STAGE 5: FINAL PAYMENT
Advance payment of remaining fees will be required prior to arrival.
STAGE 6: SIGN YOUR STUDENT CONTRACT
Your student contract contains all relevant rights and obligations that will tie you to Jacobs University. Review your individualized version of the student contract very carefully, sign it and send it back.
STAGE 7: PREPARE YOUR ARRIVAL

TUTION COST PER YEAR
All International Foundation Year students live and learn on our spacious and vibrant campus. The total cost of the program is € 28,000. This amount includes all costs associated with the program, including tuition fees, room and board, a semester ticket for local transportation, exam fees, and the following benefits:
