Look forward to a wonderful journey through the Christmas season: J-Cappella, the choir under the direction of Rucsandra Popescu, invites you to the annual Christmas Concert on December 8 at 5 p.m. in the Conference Hall on campus. The entrance is free, but the choir is happy to receive donations.

“We are going to sing plenty popular Christmas chorales from Germany, England, the Ukraine, Rumania, and Scandinavia. From classical music to jazz and film music, all genres are represented”, Popescu says. However, the composer, who has a doctorate, does not yet wish to publish a program. "This will be a surprise - like every year," she explains with a laugh.

The choir was established in 2007 and it is conducted by Popescu since 2008. An average of 35 singers from 12 different countries are engaged in the choir. Among the members of the choir are students and employees of Jacobs University, as well as musically talented people from Bremen. Thus, J-Cappella is very diverse in this respect, too.

The cultural and lingual diversity of the choir’s members are also reflected in its performances. “Our group is particularly strong this year, with members coming from all corners of the world. All singers enrich the choir with their own personal touch," the passionate conductor explains. The concept is well received in Bremen, since the audience has been loyal to the choir for years.

As every year, the audience can look forward to spicy and pleasant-smelling mulled wine, which will be served at the Christmas concert. Admission starts at 16.15 p.m.
