Conversations, workshops, and networking: The Jacobs Career Fair is connecting employers with highly qualified students and graduates of Jacobs University and other universities. "Companies and organizations have the opportunity to establish contact with students at an early stage and thus recruit well-qualified employees," said project coordinator Christin Klähn. The Career Fair 2021 will take place on March 3 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. For the very first time, the format will be hosted online this year, supported by MYJOBFAIR, an experienced partner in the field of virtual fairs. Registrations for companies are still possible.

The Career Fair serves as a networking forum between graduates, students and potential employers. Between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., participating companies and institutions are invited to present themselves and their entry-level positions, internships, trainee programs or research projects. This will be followed by a virtual networking event taking place until 8 p.m. The program will be rounded off by company presentations and workshops for students on career issues. Alumni of the English-language university will also report on their own professional experiences between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. As in previous years, the Bremen Chamber of Commerce – CCI for Bremen and Bremerhaven is the event’s patron also this time.

"Central part of the virtual fair are personal discussions between companies and potential applicants from Jacobs University, as well as career-related information sessions," explained Klähn. Participating companies and organizations will receive access to the online platform a few weeks before the event begins, which they can use to design a virtual trade fair stand. A technical introduction on how to use the portal will also be given.

About three weeks before the fair starts, students will have the opportunity to find out more about the exhibitors and arrange personal meetings with recruiters in order to directly talk to their employers of choice. In past years, many conversations have led to the conclusion of contracts for internships and entry-level positions.

Apart from regionally oriented companies, non-profit institutions and internationally active corporations are also welcome to take part in the Jacobs Career Fair. Companies and organizations such as Google, Daimler, Deutsche Börse, Barry Callebaut, the Federal Foreign Office, and the GIZ have participated as exhibitors in recent years. Furthermore, numerous renowned research institutes have presented themselves at the Career Fair.

The Jacobs Career Fair is not only aimed at students of Jacobs University, but also at interested students from other universities and colleges in the state of Bremen and north-west Germany.
