The Senator for Science and Ports, Dr. Claudia Schilling, has resigned from her position as interim Chairwoman of Jacobs University’s Board of Governors as planned. She thanked the board for the constructive cooperation over the past months. At today's meeting of the university's Board of Governors, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the "Verein zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung in der Freien Hansestadt Bremen e.V." (VFwF), State Councilor Tim Cordßen, was elected as the new Chairman of the Board of Governors.

The VFwF took over the majority shares of Jacobs University Bremen gGmbH from the Jacobs Foundation on 1 January, 2021. The new Chairman of the Board of Governors identifies the most important task as driving forward the ongoing transformation process: "In the next few months, we want to lay the foundation for developing a concept for Jacobs University Bremen that is sustainable in the long run and use this to gain new partners who will lead the university into a good future."
