In partnership with the Institut Français, Jacobs University offers its students the chance to learn or improve their skills in French, which is considered by many as one of the most beautiful languages in Europe and beyond. French courses for all levels allow students to become proficient in one of the official languages of the EU, the UN, and many other international organizations, and to travel to many of the most interesting countries in Europe, West Africa, and the world.

Our courses are taught by a team of qualified French instructors from the Institut Français, who offer French courses at various language levels.



DELF, “Diplôme d’études en langue française”/ DALF, “Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française”.

This is the official French proficiency test offered by the Centre international d’études pédagogiques for the French Ministry of Education. The test covers your proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It is composed by two different diplomas DELF and DALF. Information in English on DELF/DALF can be found here. Institut Francais

The Institut Francais is the official French cultural institute supported by the French government. It not only offers language courses but offers a great variety of cultural events at its local office in Bremen. More information on the website
