Winter School FAQs
Do I need a visa?
Visa regulations depend on your home country regulations. Please gather information soon as visa procedures can be time-consuming. Jacobs University does not offer general visa support but may issue participation/registration letters for visa application.
Are there important deadlines?
Registration ends on October 31. Payments have to be made by December 1.
What are the requirements to participate in the Winter School?
Participants need to be provide proof of sufficient English skills (i.e. you are able to participate in an academic course taught in English) as well as their most recent transcript (either your high-school diploma or your most recent university transcript).
I have registered for Jacobs’ Winter School. What are the next steps?
After registration, you will receive an official confirmation that you have been accepted to Winter School. All payments need to be made by December 1. Afterward, you will receive information about the course.
Please note: Your registration will be considered complete as soon as we receive payment. In case we will not receive payment, the registration will be canceled.
How do I get to Jacobs University?
Bremen is situated in northern Germany and is easily available by car, train, bus, and airplane.
Our Map will give you directions on how to get to Jacobs University. From the train station Bremen Schönebeck it takes you just a 5 minute walk to reach the campus.
Jacobs University is situated in Germany, does that mean I need to speak German?
Not necessarily, Jacobs University is a fully English speaking university. The language inside and outside the classroom is English. However, you can learn or improve German language skills by exploring Bremen and its surroundings.
Can I earn credits for my degree?
The university provides an official transcript which indicates the number of ECTS credits obtained at Jacobs University. Please check with your International Office at your home university for credit transfer.
