English for JU invites you to an evening of relaxation and rejuvenation.

Title of the talk: Ayurveda Lifestyle Medicine and Yoga

Info:  Ayurveda is recognized by the World Health Organisation as the oldest system of natural and preventative medicine known to man. "Ayus" means life and "Veda" means knowledge in Sanskrit. Ayurveda is essentially the science of healthy living.  It concentrates on what is required to lead a healthy harmonious life in tune with nature. The WHO Traditional and Complimentary Strategy 2014-2023, focuses on supporting the promotion of traditional and prevention orientated health  care systems such as Ayurveda on a worldwide basis.

Ayurveda dates back 5000 years and maintains that there is a fundamental harmony between the macrocosm (the universe) and the microcosm (the individual). With a multifold systematic approach to healing Ayurveda offers simple and natural regimes such as diet, exercise, herbal remedies and stress management techniques, Yoga is an integral part of the Ayurvedic Lifestyle. It is the science of uniting the mind and body resulting in boosting the selfregulatory systems of health and longevity.The benefits of integrating yoga into daily routines has been well documented. A greater sense of well being, inner peace, reduction of stress, better concentration, heightened awareness, and increased learning ablilities are just some of the many researched benefits of the regular practice of yoga.

During the evening simple yoga techniques will be demonstrated in a sitting position which can be used to relieve daily stress and tension. Dr. Göckel  a yoga specialist adn neurologist will be specifically introducing techniques of Yoga Nidra for deep relaxation. Ayurveda author, Cynthia Bolen-Nieland will go over some helpful tips for the proper intake of food and enhanced vitality.
