Concert with Sonatas by Bach, Schumann and Brahms

American violinist Ida Bieler and Australian pianist James Maddox will perform violin sonatas by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 1015, 1016, 107), Robert Schumann (Sonata No. 3, "F.A.E.-Sonata", WoO 2,  and Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2 in D minor, Op. 121) and Johannes Brahms (Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1, "Regenlied-Sonate", in G major, op. 78.

Both Prof. Bieler and Prof. Maddox are academic teachers in Robert-Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf. Bieler is also professor in Graz, Austria, and in North Carolina (University of NC, School of the Arts).  During her amazing career, she was awarded several important prizes, for example the Echo Klassik (Germany) and Cannes Classical Award (France). She has been member of famous ensembles (Melos-Quartett), and founded ensembles as Xyrion Trio with Nina Tichman, pianist, and  Maria Kliegel, cellist. For details: http://www.idabieler.com/

Maddox is the art director of the Brahms Tage Bonn. They jointly published Brahms’ violin sonatas on CD.

The free concert tickets for students are being sponsored by generous donors. This is a beautiful opportunity for students, host families and community to get together. There will be time to meet the artists personally. Students who wish to have transportation can contact the organizers (see below).
